An online exhibit development and design community with over 3,000 members, initiated through a collaboration of the Association of Science-Technology Centers, Ideum, and Independent Exhibitions. ExhibitFiles won the 2008 Museums and the Web Award for the Best Professional Site. The idea for ExhibitFiles grew from a need for dissemination of past and current exhibition work, and for professionalizing the field. Funded by a major grant from the National Science Foundation, the planning and design of the site was a rigorous process of front-end and formative evaluation, iterative design, and end-user participation in the process.
